​Alpha was engaged by WASA to provide engineering services for the preparation of detailed designs and tender documents to connect 215 properties to the existing Scarborough Sewerage Collection System. The main objective of the assignment was the installation of additional wastewater connections to existing properties in Scarborough and environs area, in order to maximize the volume of wastewater that can be diverted to the existing Scarborough WWTP for treatment.

The major elements of the project were:
  • Site reconnaissance, data collection and review of existing information.
  • Detailed engineering designs to connect 215 unconnected properties to the existing WASA sewer mains within roadway and reserves in Scarborough and environs area.
  • Total length of WASA main involved in the connection was 4km, inclusive of 100m of main extension.
  • Topographical surveys relating to proposed sewer connections.
  • Verification of customers on the ground and location of existing septic tanks and grey water collection.
  • Site verification of the grade feasibility for gravity connections only.
  • Details for collecting both black water and grey water wastes within the properties.
